January 2, 2024New Brunswickers can now register damage related to Dec. 18-19 storm
New Brunswickers affected by the storm on Dec. 18-19 can report property damage by calling the Damage Report Line at 1-888-298-8555 or by registering online.
Reporting damage to the government as soon as possible is an important part of the provincial damage assessment and recovery process. This reporting is essential to determining if the criteria for creating a Disaster Financial Assistance program has been met.
The Damage Report Line is available between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The line will not be operational on Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.
Residents are reminded to:
- Contact their insurance companies immediately to report damage.
- Take photos of damage to their homes or properties.
- Keep receipts of any repairs and replacement purchases.
- Log the number of hours of work undertaken for residents who are cleaning their own properties, or family members or those who have assisted in the cleanup of their property.
The deadline for homeowners, small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to report damages is March 25, 2024.
Questions related to the damage-reporting process should be directed to the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization through the Damage Report Line. ALH
