July 21, 2023Residents,
In accordance with Village of New Maryland Animal Control By-law No. 52-2006, Section 3(11): “No owner of animal shall suffer or permit the animal to run at large.”
“Running at large” occurs when an animal is in any place other than on the property of the owner and not secured by a leash which is two (2) metres or less in length and under the control of the owner.
Owners of cats must keep them on their own property and not allow them to roam and are encouraged to keep cats inside or keep them outside secured.
Cats that are caught roaming will be taken to the SPCA by our Animal Control Officer and the owner of the cat will be required to pay a Village fine of $50.00 (fifty dollars) and any other fees that the SPCA charges when they retrieve their cat.
More information about our Animal Control By-law can be found on the Village website here.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Village office at 451-8508 or office@vonm.ca.
Thank you for your cooperation!
