On Wednesday, 25 September 2024, Mayor, Council and staff raised the Every Child Matters flag in recognition of, and to honour, the Indigenous children who never returned home, Survivors of residential school systems, their families and communities.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be observed on Monday, September 30th. We encourage residents to wear orange to raise awareness of this tragic and painful history and acknowledge the ongoing impacts of residential school systems. It is a moment to reflect and educate ourselves of the ongoing violence and injustice Indigenous communities face.
