Community Facilities Custodian

The Village of New Maryland is currently inviting qualified applicants to apply for the part-time position of Community Facilities Custodian.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the custodian is responsible to provide janitorial services, general maintenance, grounds keeping, event preparations and assist in the operations of the New Maryland Centre and Victoria Hall.

The position is permanent part-time and involves day, evening and weekend hours.  A flexible schedule is mandatory to accommodate the facility rentals. 

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate;
  • One to three years of experience providing janitorial or building maintenance services;
  • Valid New Brunswick driver’s license Class 5 as well as access and willingness to use a personal vehicle for work purposes; and
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the general maintenance of a community or similar facility;
  • Knowledge of any relevant policies, procedures, rules or regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety regulations;
  • Skill in the use of tools and operation of equipment used in performing janitorial, maintenance and ground-keeping tasks;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and the commitment to maintain high standards in order to ensure a clean, safe, healthy and attractive environment;
  • Flexibility, including the ability to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals or groups; and
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset.

Salary: $ 17.60 – $23.42 based on experience

Working Conditions: This is an in-person position in New Maryland, NB.
