September 25, 2026
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day
September 30, 2026A new way to live, care and connect.
People are built for connection.
At every age and stage of life, connection shapes how we experience our community.
The Connection Project is built around the idea that when homes, care for older adults, services, green space, and shared spaces exist together, there are more opportunities for people to connect, participate, and belong.
The proposed development of the Forbes Property brings together new homes, licensed care, commercial and community-serving space, parks, trails, and green space within one connected community.
Connection between neighbours. Between generations. Between people and the care and services they need. And between the project and the wider New Maryland community.
The goal is not to create something apart from what already exists, but to strengthen the connections between people, care, place, and community.
The Current Vision
The current working plan includes:
- 90 licensed care beds across five smaller care homes
- 246 housing units across a mix of housing types
- Approximately 40,000 sq. ft. of commercial and community-serving space
- 8.48 acres of green space, parks, and trails, representing approximately 25% of the site
- A planned connection to Birchwood Trail
- Primary care currently positioned as an anchor use
Established direction. Working details.
The overall care-anchored mixed-use direction and major components of the development have been established.
The current master site plan remains a working plan, including current road, trail, parking, and site configurations.
